What We Built

This elevated deck is all about the details. The decking is Trex composite in two tones — a darker charcoal paired with a warmer brown — installed with a picture frame border that wraps the perimeter in a clean, defined edge. The picture framing technique is one of the most effective ways to give a deck a truly finished, custom look, and the two-tone combination makes the border pop without feeling overdone. The close-up shots show just how well the wood-grain texture of Trex holds up in direct sunlight — it reads as rich and natural while requiring none of the upkeep real wood demands.

The railing system is all-black aluminum — posts, rails, and vertical balusters — giving the deck a sharp, modern silhouette against the home's gray siding. Aluminum railing is one of our most requested upgrades: it's stronger than vinyl, never needs painting, and the pyramid post caps add a refined finishing touch that elevates the whole structure. The stair run is equally clean, with white painted risers contrasting against the dark composite treads and black railing on both sides — a bold, graphic detail that photographs beautifully and holds up in everyday use.
